I think I've settled on Genocide Moon as my title. The 3rd draft is done, in the hands of the beta readers (many thanks to the betas!). I'm very excited to be working with an editor (who shall remain nameless unless she gives me permission to mention her name) after the final post-beta tweaks are complete. The formal edit will be late July. I'll start sending out queries in Aug/Sept! I'll keep everyone posted!!
The Book with the Changing Title
Alright. I give up trying to name this damn thing. We will just say "the book with the changing title" is on its third draft, about 100 pages in. After this one, I'll get a copy edit, finish my query letter and start sending them out. Hopefully by then I'll have settled on a title *shrug*.

The first draft of Scab Amongst the Stars formerly The Lucid Hosts/The Prescient Guard/Genocide Moon is complete!!!! Hopefully this is the final name change, LOL. It's far from finished (I've got 3 more drafts ahead of me) but at least the first draft is done, and that's the on that takes the longest. My goal is to have all the subsequent drafts done by the end of 2018. Not bad for a workin' stiff like me!
Half way home!
My new project is halfway done (first draft). I am still determining the title, but it's coming together nicely. My goal is to have draft #1 done by the end of 2017. We will see what life throws at me over the next 8 months, but that's my working plan.
1/3 done
The project I'm working on (formerly The Lucid Hosts and The Prescient Guard) is 1/3 of the way done. It is separated into 3 roughly equal parts and I'm in the most difficult period of writing a novel: the newness of the idea can't propel me, but I'm not close enough to the finish line to be drawn forward. But I'm plugging away at it. My goal is draft #1 done by the end of '17. Trying to fit writing around a full time job, a marriage, and raising two young children makes for slow progress, but a deeply satisfying feeling when it's complete!
Classwork...Done!
After 13 months of labor I completed all my coursework for the Algonkian Novel Writing Program and turned it in today! I am excited for the feedback and further molding (and strengthening) of The Prescient Guard. There is much work to be done, but my goal is the have the first draft of the full manuscript done a year from now. In the meantime, I mean to give my poor ol' neglected blog some love, and maybe write a short story or two!
The first 100 pages
Well, the first 100 pages of the first draft of The Prescient Guard formerly The Lucid Hosts are now complete. I will be polishing them up and making them shine, and then turning them in as my final lesson for the online writing course. I have been focusing all my creative energies on this novel (as evidenced by my shameful neglect of my blog) and hope the results will please. More details to come.
Official Utterances
I canceled all forms of social media. When I need a break from working on The Lucid Hosts I'll comment on why in "Cerebral Catchall." But from this day forward all official utterances from J.T.R. Brown the writer or just plain ol' JT the guy are coming via this site. So sayeth the LORD. So I'll make a good faith effort to update it more.

11 lessons down for the Algionkian Writer's Course, 5 more to go! The skeleton of The Lucid Hosts is constructed and hanging in the closet of my brain. Now its time to give the bones some flesh!
